Angus, one of our very talented voice artists, visited our studio recently to do a quick message on hold read for Zone Bowling Australia. After the session, Nell took the opportunity to have a quick chat with Angus to see what he’s been up to lately! We signed Angus up a little over 18 months ago and has been especially selected to be the brand voice for Zone Bowling, Porsche Centre Parramatta, Imagine Drift Hotel, Grand Prix Auto Group and many more.

Angus is well-known for his young and upbeat reads in the voice booth. This, coupled with a professional and friendly disposition, he knows what is needed to get the job done. Angus says, “the most important tool is the right microphone”. Lucky for him, McGirvanmedia gifted him a Sennheiser MKH 416 last year for his birthday!

Here at McGirvanmedia, we also know a quality mic is important for any audio work, so we have equipped all of our voice over artists with the Sennheiser MKH 416.

A little bit of Behind the Scenes with Angus: “I started radio announcing when I was 12 in Hervey Bay at a community radio show every week.” He then goes on to tell us that he studied radio at the Australian Film Television and Radio School in Sydney when he turned 18 which is where he fell in love with podcasts and audio production. Here he is today, using his voice to be creative and do what he loves most.

Angus describing a typical working day: “I put my whole heart and soul into every read and I love that no two days are the same, especially when I come in to work at McGirvanmedia”. Aaah, we love you for saying so, Angus. As Managing Director, Alan McGirvan says, “we don’t teach our people to be nice, we hire nice people”.

What are Angus’s other passions as well as being in the voice booth? He loves collecting records and he has a kitty named Louie. We hear you as we’re all animal lovers here at McGirvanmedia! Angus is also excited about his new work venture – he is a voice coach in his spare time and teaches students between the age range of 8 to 60! How cool is that?

You can listen to Angus as well as our other amazing voiceover artists on our audio library.
